Objective:
To compile listings of best plants as actually grown by visitors to this site, users of our Ideas Genie software and other voluntary sources.
Each list will be for a specific region or hardiness zone.
The end result?
You’ll be able to review the combined nominations listing for your region.
You will see your own name and nominations submitted (if you wish).
We will be surprised if you don’t find “a few” interesting plants to try in YOUR garden, as recommended by your fellow gardeners.
Don’t expect this to happen overnight. It’s very much a work in progress exercise.
Gathering information for the listings.
This project requires input from gardeners who are willing to share their gardening experiences. You can contribute provided you have actually grown plants. You don’t have to be an expert!
How do you nominate YOUR favourite plants?
Use our on-line form to nominate your favourites.
We’d like you to think about the plants you’ve grown and of those plants, to nominate your favourites by filling in and submitting our on-line form.
We don’t want bombarded with frivolous submissions, so we’ve devised this process:
When you use the on-line form to nominate your first plant, be sure to fill in your full details. Double
check your email address!
Also, indicate if you would like your name to appear in a list of the contributors to this exercise.
You will be allocated an ID code by email within 24 hrs.
Thereafter, use the allocated ID code to submit additional nominations. You wont need to fill in the other address
details when you use YOUR ID code.
Nominate one plant per submission. Submit as many entries as you wish. This will be an ongoing project. Launched in October 2003.
NOTE: Entries without an ID code MAY be ignored, entries without a location WILL be ignored.
Please don’t be put off by this cautious approach, we NEED your input.
We also want you to find the listings genuine and VERY useful.
More Information
We hatched this project out of necessity. With an international and widespread Ideas Genie user base we became acutely aware of the limitations on plant selection
due to gardeners respective locations.
We’ll correlate the nominations in our Ideas Genie-Software for Plant Lovers Master Database.
Don’t worry if you don’t have this software yet. We can use Ideas Genie to generate web pages of the Best Plant Listings. We will display these on this site, so anyone with internet
access can see the results.
A CD of the project will be made available to users of our Ideas Genie Garden Software, with better quality photos and more plant information. The Master Database is by nature a “work in progress” and updates will be made available at regular intervals.
